Revelstoke Backcountry Open Group Tour

One day open group backcountry ski or splitboard touring in the backcountry surrounding Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Our one day programs explore the backcountry at a relaxed pace in an open group of up to 5 skiers and riders. 

This one day open group trip is best for backcountry tourers with some solid touring experience and advanced to expert downhill abilities built to introduce you to the backcountry terrain utilizing RMR's lift system.

This tour includes:

  • IFMGA Mountain Guide or ACMG Ski Guide 

  • Exclusive Early-Up Access for tours at RMR (lift pass available at a discounted rate)

  • Catered Skiers Lunches (Freshly Made Mostly Organic from local catering company)

  • Avalanche Safety Equipment (Mammut Barryvox Element, Probe, Shovel)

ITINERARY


7:30am

Meet in the downstairs lobby of the Sutton Place Hotel at Revelstoke Mountain Resort with ski / snowboard boots on and dressed for a day of backcountry skiing.

There we'll cover the following:

  1. Meet your guide(s) and get a brief overview of the day
  2. Sign Waiver and Assumption of Risk Form
  3. Issue avalanche safety equipment
  4. Distribute lunches
7:45am - 8:00am Early Up loading on the Revelation Gondola, ahead of the public opening.

8:00am - 3:30pm After a backcountry safety and avalanche rescue review, we'll spend the day exploring the backcountry in a custom guided itinerary based on group ability and current snowpack conditions.

Guests should be strong intermediate skiers or expert snowboarders in above average physical condition ready to ascend up to 3.5 hours total throughout the day. 

Guests must be 19 years or older to participate. 


Required equipment:

  • Touring Skis or Splitboard and Skins - Rentals available from Revelstoke Powder Rentals
  • Lift Ticket or Seasons Pass to RMR (for rmr based tours) (Available with your booking)
  • Poles (adjustable or fixed length with powder baskets)

  • Warm hat

  • Goggles

  • Backpack (25 - 40L)

  • Helmet (recommended)

  • Additional insulating layer 

  • Water (1 - 2L)

  • 2 pairs of gloves (one light pair for uphill and a warmer pair for downhill)

  • Sunglasses and Uphill Hat (helmet stays stowed for uphill)

  • Additional Snack Food (bars, specialty snacks, etc.)
